Born in Vietnam in 1945, Bernard Plossu started out as a photographer in the Sahara desert with a box camera at the age of 13 and he is now one of the best known French photographers.

Bernard was brought up in Paris and from 1977 to 1985 he lived in New Mexico, USA. He has had exhibitons in France and abroad since 1988, the year of his “ Gran prix national de la photo” and his retrospective at the “G.Pompidou Center” in Paris .

His latest personal exhibitions have been in the “Museum for Photographic Arts” in San Diego, at the “Smithsonian Institution” in Washington DC, in “Palazzo Bagatti Valsecchi” in Milan, “IVAM” in Valencia, Modena, Rome and Bari. He has published more than 60 art books, including New Mexico Revisited, The Garden of Dust (Marval), and Bernard Plossu, 1963-1993. The latest one “Bernard Plossu, 1963-2005” was published in 2006 by Edition des Deux Terres, Paris.
